I am writing on behalf of the Barling Police Department in Barling, AR, to respectfully request your consideration of a donation to assist in funding forensic genetic genealogy in an effort to identify an unidentified decedent whose remains were discovered in our jurisdiction in 1993.

For more than three decades, this individual has remained without a name despite extensive investigative efforts. Traditional investigative methods, including dental record comparisons, DNA entry into national databases, and collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, have not resulted in an identification. As a result, this individual has been deprived of one of the most basic human dignities—the restoration of their identity—and any surviving family members have been left without answers for more than thirty years.

Recent advances in forensic genetic genealogy have enabled investigators across the country to identify long-term unidentified decedents through advanced DNA analysis and genealogical research. We believe this case has the same potential for resolution if funding can be secured.

The requested funds will be used solely to cover the costs associated with forensic genetic genealogy services, including advanced DNA processing and genealogical analysis by qualified laboratory and forensic genealogy specialists. These services are not typically covered through standard law enforcement operating budgets and often rely on grants or charitable donations.

Identifying this individual would not only restore their identity but could also provide long-awaited answers to surviving relatives, generate new investigative leads regarding the circumstances surrounding their death, and fulfill our agency's commitment to seeking justice, regardless of how much time has passed.

We have partnered with Moxxy Forensic Investigations, a nonprofit organization specializing in forensic genetic genealogy for unidentified human remains cases. The total cost to complete this process is $4,635.

Any contribution, regardless of amount, will directly support this effort and bring us one step closer to restoring this individual's identity and providing long-awaited answers to their family.
