I’m putting this Gofundme together for my beloved cousin who is fighting for his life right now at UNMC. Saturday, October 18 Hayden was on his way to pick his mom up after completing her shift at the hospital on his motorcycle when he was struck by a pick up truck from behind. unfortunately the driver of the pick up truck had left the scene of the accident. Authorities say alcohol is likely a contributing factor to the crash. His medical team has let his parents know they do not expect him to pull through.

Hayden is a senior at Lewis Central High School and was looking forward to graduating in December. Hayden is a hard worker, maintaining his grades, starting his dream welding business while pursuing his other dream… owning a bike in memory of his late grandfather “motorcycle grandpa”. Hayden has always been our helping hand, always checking in with family, especially his grandma. Hayden enjoyed working on his bike with his dad, getting excited for Halloween with his mom, and looking out for his ornery little sister. You never knew what plan Hayden had up his sleeve but you did know he was going to make you laugh.

** Update: This afternoon Hayden’s medical team had confirmed he no longer has any brain activity. Fortunately Hayden is an organ donor and will remain on life support until arrangements and matches are made. As devastating as this is for our family, it brings us peace to know that Hayden’s final act of love will be giving lives back to those in need. We appreciate the love we have received from this community. Every thought, prayer, and act of love is truly appreciated from us all. Hayden would be overwhelmed with gratitude for the generosity and love his community has shown him and his family, especially his mother.
