Support Morton's Stroke Recovery Journey
Donation protected
As you may know, Morton suffered a massive stroke on July 22nd, and was down for about 7-10 hours before being found and rushed to the hospital where he was in ICU for 7 days. He was then transferred to a regular room for another 6 days before being transferred to Encompass Rehab where he will remain until about the end of August.
Family and friends have come together to lift our spirits, showering the family with love and support in so many ways. From providing a shoulder to cry on, meals for the family, back to school supplies, clothes, and shoes for the kids, cards and well wishes. We cannot thank each and every one of you enough for that love. It is overwhelmingly touching.
While we are so very thankful Morton is alive, he has a very long road to recovery. He is getting the therapy he needs to regain his cognitive and physical abilities. Currently, he has right-sided paralysis and inability to communicate. He has good days where he recognizes people and can speak, and at times you can understand most of what he is saying, other days are more difficult. He is not mobile, has restricted physical abilities, impaired speech, and limited memory and awareness. It is going to take time and great effort to heal and regain these functions . There is no telling just how long this recovery will take, or even if he will make a full recovery back to the Morton we all know and love. Morton is a business owner, has 4 kids and a wife who need him. With that, we are reaching out to their huge village for more help. Insurance will only cover rehab for 21 days and then he will need to go home. Anna is a teacher at clearwater high and is already back to work. He is not able to be left alone and will need full time attention. In order for him to continue his recovery progress when he is home, he will still need therapy and additional care. There is much we cannot do for him ourselves, which as you all know can be very costly. Not only are they busy with 4 kids, full-time jobs, and all the chaos that comes along with that, but they also volunteer their time in helping their community regularly.
If you are able, monetary donations to help pay for the additional medical expenses and recovery efforts would be greatly appreciated.
