SOS: Help Moriah Escape the United States

Hi, my name is Moriah, Moriah Jones. I am 25, and I’m raising funds to start a new chapter of my life outside of the United States. I worked hard in Washington, DC, supporting and leading data center technical engineering for years. I lost my job, and now I’m living a few hours south as I try to reach my dream. I have been looking for work, and on the side I’ve been working as a freelance artist.

I want to leave the turmoil of the United States.

After years of navigating emotional, financial, and healthcare hardships and crises, I’ve come to a major turning point. I want a life, I want change, and I need something to be proud of. I’m not asking for a handout; I’m just asking for a chance to reclaim my life and build something meaningful in a country that aligns with my values. A home where I can be supported and proud to contribute and be a part of. I was fortunate enough to be there during the protests for women’s healthcare equality. I have taken part in the protests and local community meetings for my government. I know my voice is small and it can make a difference, but it’s no longer safe here. Men are roaming the streets, impersonating members of USA’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement and taking women, and children from their families, their homes. Containment camps are being used and I have no safety here.

Over the last few years, I’ve struggled with access to affordable healthcare, job insecurity, and a lack of community. I’ve experienced burnout, grief in losing my fiancée to stage four pancreatic cancer, and personal setbacks that derailed my path.

Despite all of this, I’ve been learning new skills (like 3D modeling, IT hardware and software repair for Windows and Linux, and coding (Lua, Linux, and C#)), rebuilding my confidence, and dreaming of a better future. I’m not giving up, I’m just reaching out for help to move forward. A way to safety, a home, a country that provides for its people.

• A safer and more sustainable environment

All of this is in Spain, and many other countries but not in the USA.

After careful research, I’ve chosen Spain as the country where I can not only survive but thrive. I believe it is beautiful. I believe I can build a life there. I’ve also looking into Austria and Finland, but Spain is my first choice.

My Goals

I’m working towards:

• Finding remote work and finishing certification programs

• Applying for student and residency visas

• Building a career I can be proud of

• Creating a stable home where I can finally breathe
