Help Us Keep the Doors Open at Mora's Boxing Gym in Washington Heights
Mora's Boxing Gym is more than just a place to train, it's a lifeline for the community. Founded by Milton Mora, a former amateur boxer, cutman, and trainer who has worked with former world champions and up-and-coming ranked fighters is now dedicated to giving back, the gym provides a safe space for children and adults in Washington Heights to learn, grow, and thrive.
For the past two years, Mr. Mora has kept the gym open out of his own pocket, refusing to charge the children who attend, understanding that many of them come from underprivileged backgrounds. His mission is simple: give these kids a safe place to learn, train, and stay off the streets. Every day, 15 kids and 10 adults come to the gym to train, build new skills, and gain mentorship—all free of charge.
But now, the gym is at risk of closing its doors. Mr. Mora doesn't take a salary, and without financial support, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep the doors open. This gym isn’t just about boxing; it's about giving young people a chance to succeed, to learn discipline, and to find a path toward a brighter future.
