A month ago, while we were out of town, Moose, our 6-month-old puppy, decided he wanted to grow up to be a daredevil, which resulted in a fractured femoral head. After rushing him to an orthopedic vet, we opted for an ORIF surgery, placing pins in the femur to heal properly and give him the best chance at a happy and healthy life.

However, during his 3-month road to recovery (that included a lot of boiled chicken, peanut butter, and hands-on potty assistance), our beloved 2-year-old cat Ozy (more commonly known as Stinky) decided he was not getting enough attention and the only way to do so was to fracture not one… but BOTH of his femoral heads! Unfortunately, this little stunt worked as he is now due for a bilateral FHO surgery (removing the fracture and reshaping the bones) this coming Thursday.

Unfortunately, we have some steep vet bills ahead of us due to the unfortunate timing of it all. Although this is our cross to bear, I am spreading the word in hopes to raise some money and assist with the road to recovery for our furry friends. Each surgery/femur costs around 3-5,000 dollars plus additional care such as pain meds, follow up x-rays, etc.
