As many of you know, I brought Monty home on October 22, 2023, and he has since brought so much love and joy into our lives. He's more than a pet; he's truly family.
Early this year, Monty began having serious urinary issues, and after multiple emergency vet visits, he was diagnosed with FIC (feline idiopathic cystitis). We have done everything we can as far as medications, dietary changes, and stress reduction to manage his condition since then. Despite our efforts, his symptoms returned, and in September, he experienced another painful urinary blockage that required an overnight emergency stay.
Sadly, his condition has continued and come up again. This past weekend, Monty had another flare-up that could not be resolved with medication alone.
Our only option to save him was another overnight vet stay and a surgery called Perineal Urethrostomy (PU), which is a procedure that creates a permanent opening to help prevent future blockages. While this doesn't cure FIC, it gives him a better chance at a healthy, comfortable life.
This surgery was necessary and couldn't wait. Monty will be undergoing this surgery on Tuesday October 14th and while we are so grateful for the care he has received so far and hoping for a quick and easy recovery, we are now facing significant veterinary bills. Tyler and I are doing everything we can financially, but even with both of our incomes, this unexpected expense is a lot to manage. If you are able and willing, we would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give. Every bit helps and goes directly towards Monty's medical care and recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, supporting, and loving Monty along with us. He's got a lot more purring to do, and we want to make sure he can.
