Help Rebuild Monte Cara Brew After the Storm
Location: Mindelo, São Vicente, Cape Verde Islands West Africa
Organizer: Aristides Silva & the Monte Cara Brew Team
On August 11–12, 2025, São Vicente was struck by a catastrophic storm — Tropical Storm Erin — that brought 192.3 mm of rain (7.57 Inches Of Water) in just 5 hours, more than our island usually sees in a whole year. Flash floods tore through homes, businesses, and lives.
Monte Cara Brew, our beloved craft brewery and soon to be a community gathering place, was devastated. We lost and damaged a lot of brewery items and equipment’s.
What We Lost
• Fermentation tanks (damaged) and brewing equipment
• Cleaning, brewing items, and serving supplies
• Electrical systems, refrigeration, and fixtures
• Furniture and the warm, welcoming space where our community gathered
Why Monte Cara Brew Matters
Monte Cara Brew is more than beer. It’s Morabeza — the Cape Verdean spirit of warmth, welcome, and resilience.
It’s going to where locals and visitors share music, culture, and friendship. Where we are going to celebrate our island’s unique flavors, support local artists, and work alongside other small businesses to keep our community vibrant.
Our Goal
We need $25,000 to:
• Replace essential brewing equipment
• Restore our production space
• Support our staff during recovery
• Rebuild stronger, more sustainable, and storm-resilient
