My friend Monique, an oncology nurse, recently underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant while participating in an early‑phase gene‑therapy trial aimed at curing a rare blood disorder. Before this trial, she depended on monthly blood transfusions just to survive—often facing stress and uncertainty during blood shortages.
Monique has been unable to work for an extended period, and in the past few months, she also lost her medical coverage. Recovery from the transplant is long, expensive, and requires strict precautions because of her weakened immune system which makes returning to work in the hospital challenging.
Monique is too humble to ask for help which is why I am asking on her behalf.
Monique and I met while studying nursing at Drexel, and she has always been one of the most genuine, selfless people I’ve known. She has dedicated her life to supporting her patients & family, in addition to volunteer work with her church. Monique is a true health care hero who persevered by staying at the bedside through the pandemic, despite her own high risk health condition. She embodies true selflessness, strength and Agape Love; seeing the good in everyone she meets.
Your generosity means more than you know and thank you for your support!
