Help Monique Fight Autoimmune Encephalitis and Heal
Hi, my name is Aryanna Meza, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart as Monique’s daughter.
What we initially thought was a stroke turned out to be something even more frightening and rare. My mom, Monique, has been most likely diagnosed with autoimmune encephalitis, a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the brain. The damage revealed by her scans was described by the neurologist as looking like she had been in a serious car accident. It's been devastating to hear and even harder to watch.
Right now, my mom is experiencing 8–10 subclinical seizures a day. She’s confused, often thinking she’s at home when she’s actually in the hospital, and she doesn’t fully understand what’s happening. As her daughter, it's absolutely heartbreaking to see someone so full of life and love become so lost in her own mind. But we still see her strength, and we still believe in her fight.
Monique is a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She is one of the strongest people I know, and we are holding on to hope and faith with everything we have. This road to recovery is going to be long, challenging, and uncertain—but we are walking it together.
We are asking first and foremost for your prayers, positive thoughts, and support. We believe deeply in the power of prayer, and right now that is what is carrying us through each day.
Financially, this journey is already taking a huge toll on our family. My mom’s state disability was stopped in February, and we are still waiting to hear back about permanent Social Security disability. My dad hasn’t left her side and has already missed a full week of work to care for her. And as we all know—life doesn’t stop when someone gets sick.
We are humbly asking for help to cover:
Mounting medical bills
Ongoing treatment and therapies
Living expenses like rent, utilities, and food
Every dollar will help ease the burden on our family and let us focus on what matters most—helping Monique heal. We are endlessly grateful for the texts, prayers, and love you’ve already shared with us. Please keep them coming. You may also venmo me
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being with us on this incredibly emotional journey.
With love and gratitude,
