My name is Monica Kleisath and I need your support. I am a 70-year-old widower on a fixed income and depleted funds due to my late husband’s long battle with cancer. As a four-decade resident of Walnut Creek, I have volunteered for many, many organizations within our local community, including traffic, communication, neighborhood watch, dog and chicken issues, and day-to-day solutions. You may know me as the “Homestead Sign Lady” posting neighborhood celebrations including birthdays, weddings, and baby arrivals. I have always been ready to assist my community in any capacity. It never occurred to me that I would be the one in need, but this time it has happened to ME! It humbles me greatly to seek GoFundMe financial assistance, and I would be forever grateful for your consideration. I am humbly seeking help covering the estimated $10,000 cost of repairing my home due to a fire.

I had a terrible incident happen on April 4, 2024. I was out in my front yard doing weed control when I did not notice a spark igniting on my home's exterior wall. Unbeknownst to me, it was smoldering for some time, ignited, and then traveled along the entire roof crown. I will be forever grateful to the good Samaritans driving by who spotted the smoke and fire, called 911, and then frantically helped me minimize the spread of the fire and further damage with a garden hose. I will also be equally grateful to the fire department who responded with hook and ladder trucks within minutes and finished the job with foam, chain saws and axes!

Even though a more severe disaster was certainly averted, there was still significant damage to my home, resulting in the estimated $10,000 repair. I cannot express in words how much any donation towards this unexpected situation would be so appreciated.
