In January 2011, at just 37 years old, Monica McFarlan’s life changed forever when a sudden virus led to congestive heart failure. She was rushed to the ER and soon after received a life-saving LVAD heart pump. Since then, Monica has faced more challenges than most of us can imagine—removal of the LVAD, a heart attack, a serious fall that caused a brain injury, another LVAD surgery, and countless hospital stays.

On Saturday, September 20th, Monica was life-flighted from Emory to Vanderbilt. Doctors are now working hard to stabilize her weakened heart, reduce dangerous fluid build-up, and manage her heart arrhythmias.

Through all of this, her husband Darren, their boys Kasen and Kuper, and her mother Glenna have been faithfully by her side. But the costs of medical care, travel, lodging, and lost income are becoming overwhelming.
