This story is for and about my friend, Monica Schons, In April 2025, after experiencing terrible back pain requiring a visit to her doctor, an immediate ER visit resulted in the unfathomable news of Metastatic Adenocarcinoma Gallbladder Cancer. This disease is classified as Stage 4 as it has metastasized to her liver and lungs. After being admitted to the hospital for testing and stent placement, immediate treatment was necessary due to the amount and spreading of tumors. Since May, she has gone through countless doctor appointments, tests and rounds of chemotherapy all while continuing to run her small business. Her treatments have been a roller coaster as each result has lead to another variations of chemotherapy. The doctors say while this cancer is not curable it is treatable. At this point, Monica will require a new liver stent every 3 months and chemo will continue indefinitely. As a mom of Nicholas, Grace, and Nathan, she will continue this fight every day to beat it! Through her rounds of chemo, exhaustion, sickness she continues to work.
