There is little any of us can control in this world. That’s why we cultivate our communities in every season, so when the time comes, we can call upon each other.

Here’s our call: Mónica Rhor needs us.

Monica is a passionate storyteller who has criss-crossed the country telling memorable narratives. Many of us esteem her as an empathetic colleague, dedicated mentor, teacher and loving friend who’d lend her gifts whenever needed. Fewer know her as the doting mother to two young women who have a brighter future because of her. Fewer still know her as a sister or cousin.

However you know her, Mónica needs you as she faces down the biggest trial of her life. Doctors discovered an inoperable glioblastoma in her brain in July. Its location and growth prevents her from doing what she loves, writing and editing, and generating income from those talents. She has had to take extended leave from work while her daughters finish out their senior year in high school.

She needs our support. Her family will take your prayers and any financial gift you can spare. Mónica is facing a battery of treatments and challenges to come as she navigates her health and helping her daughters graduate.

The funds will go to support Mónica’s cancer treatments, long-term care costs and household expenses. This account will be administered by Mónica’s sisters.
