Support for Monica After the Tragic Loss of Her Daughter Morgan

Last Thursday, our community suffered an unimaginable tragedy. Morgan, a bright, loving, and deeply altruistic young woman, was taken from us. Her loss has devastated her family and all who knew her.

Morgan was the kind of person who lifted others up without hesitation. She was a devoted older sister, a loyal friend to many, and someone whose kindness made every space she entered better. Her absence is immeasurable.

Her mother, Monica, is now facing every parent’s worst nightmare. Overcome with grief, she must somehow find the strength to make funeral arrangements for her oldest daughter while trying to navigate a life forever changed. As many know, Monica works for the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, but due to the sensitive circumstances surrounding Morgan’s death, she is unable to return to work for the foreseeable future.

In addition to funeral expenses, Monica will continue to be responsible for her own bills as well as the car payments for Morgan’s vehicle, which was in her name. The financial burden on top of such an overwhelming loss is more than anyone should have to bear.

If you know Monica, you know that she is truly one of the most selfless and giving people you will ever meet. From volunteering in the community—and pulling many of us in with her—to supporting individuals through their struggles and addictions, she has spent years giving her time, her heart, and her love to others. She has been my beacon of hope through some of the hardest moments in my own life. She never judges, never hesitates to help, and gives everything she can.

Now, it is our turn to give back.

Monica would never ask for this help herself, but she desperately needs support during this heartbreaking time. Our goal is to lift even a small piece of the weight she is carrying—so she can focus on grieving, healing, and honoring her beautiful daughter.

Any amount helps, and every gesture of love means more than words can express.
