Last year, four Baltimore City children faced loss and uncertainty after both their parents were detained by ICE and deported to Mexico. A single mother with 3 children of her own, Mona opened her heart to these children, giving them a loving, stable, and safe home. Under her care, the children have thrived and are catching up in school, showing improvements in their reading and English skills.

Mona has had to reprioritize her time to support the children, including checking in with their schools regularly and attending medical visits. The four children have varying conditions, such as spina bifida, seizures, and fainting episodes, that require continuous care. With this dedication to the children, Mona lost her job and is finding it difficult to financially support her now 7 children. Her eldest son has picked up two extra jobs to support his new siblings, but the family is barely getting by.

Debido a esta dedicación, Mona perdió su empleo y ahora le resulta difícil mantener económicamente a los que ya son siete hijos a su cargo. Su hijo mayor ha conseguido dos empleos adicionales para ayudar a mantener a sus nuevos hermanos, pero la familia apenas logra salir adelante.
