This is my amazing friend Luna. They have been on a waitlist for gender affirming surgery for over two years. This month we finally got the good news! We have a surgery date!

Unfortunately, like many of us Luna has been out of work for a while. Thankfully we live in a state with good coverage so insurance is still going to cover the surgery and rent is taken care of. We just need enough to ensure Luna has enough funds for food, bills, and comfort items during their recovery.

Luna has had an uphill battle most of their life. They came from a small town in the Midwest and moved out to the West Coast for an easier life. Then the job market dipped and they ended up living in their car for around a year. We met through mutual friends as they had just become housed again and they became part of our little LGBTQIA+ family.

Luna usually stays off the Internet for safety from their past but agreed to let me share their story when I asked. Recovery for this surgery is 6-8 weeks. The friend group is here to support them but many of us are also disabled and/or unemployed so we need a little help to get the funds together to support Luna through their recovery.

We really appreciate any support. This is big and scary and we want to make it as easy as possible. We're so thankful that all we need to cover is basics. Thank you for being our extended family and helping us care for our friend. ️‍⚧️❤️
