I will begin with a story of a very happy, busy

little 3 year old who was loving life and

Moana!! Last September, life changed very

quickly for Monae, and her mom, Brooke.

For those of you who may not recognize the names, Brooke’s maiden name is Thompson and she graduated CHS and her mom, Monae’s grandma, is Kara Thompson, who also graduated CHS and worked in our community for many years.

Monae, went from being a very busy, healthy 3 year old to exhibiting puzzling symptoms. At first, it was anticipated Monae, had a virus. However, her symptoms persisted, and quickly worsened. Brooke, had a strong impression that Monae’s symptoms may be due to leukemia. So, they went for another appointment, where blood work was performed, that quickly sent Monae, to the ER. Her blood counts were very low, but they didn’t receive any further confirmation. Monae, and her mom quickly found themselves boarding a mercy flight from Great Falls to Kalispell, MT. Upon arriving in Kalispell, they were met with an amazing Pediatric Medical Team at Logan Health Children’s Hospital. The following morning many medical tests were performed, which confirmed a few days later, Monae’s diagnosis of, ALL Leukemia. Monae, and Brooke spent almost two months in Kalispell, initially. Monae, is a fighter, and thankfully her body is keeping up with her resilience! She is five months in, to a two year plus, treatment journey. This diagnosis has created a lot of challenges, and extra unforeseen expenses. They are living back in Kalispell, as Monae is currently receiving intensive cancer treatments for some time. Monae’s treatments will require ongoing travel to Kalispell. This family is grateful for any, and all donations, prayers, support, and good vibes sent their way!
