Help Us Bring Our Miracle Baby Safely Into the World
Hi, we’re Maria and Denisha Davila.
We’ve been together since 2012, married since 2013, and in 2022, we began the most meaningful journey of our lives—starting a family through reciprocal IVF. We created our baby using Denisha’s egg, and Maria is carrying the pregnancy. This baby was created with intention, love, and so much hope.
But our journey has taken an unexpected and heartbreaking turn.
At just 26 weeks pregnant, Maria was hospitalized and diagnosed with oligohydramnios, meaning there is dangerously low amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. After further testing, we learned Maria had experienced PPROM (Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes)—her water broke far too early. There is no way to fix this. The only option is constant monitoring, hospital bedrest, and trying to keep the baby safe inside the womb as long as possible.
Maria will now be in the hospital for weeks, possibly months, until it’s safe to deliver. Every extra day our baby stays in utero increases their chances of survival—but it also means more time without income and rising expenses. Unfortunately Maria is not able to work during this time, that leaves us relying solely on Denisha’s income—which is not yet full-time or benefit-eligible, as she just started a new job a few weeks ago and is still working toward full credentialing.
We’re both recent graduates, carrying heavy student loan debt. Maria had been preparing to take the July Florida Bar Exam, but due to this medical emergency, she’s been forced to postpone until February. That means not only repaying the full cost of the exam and study materials, but also delaying the start of her legal career—and the income we were depending on.
We’re doing everything we can to hold it together, but the emotional and financial pressure is already overwhelming. Hospital bills are growing. Rent and regular living costs don’t stop. We haven’t even had the chance to fully prepare for our baby’s arrival. And no matter how long we can keep our baby safely inside, they will be born prematurely and will go directly to the NICU, where they may need weeks or even months of specialized care.
This was supposed to be the happiest time of our lives. Instead, we’re navigating the hardest, most uncertain chapter we’ve ever faced. We’re asking for help—not because it’s easy, but because we need it.
Your donation—of any amount—will go directly toward covering hospital bills, rent, NICU costs, and essential baby supplies. If you can’t give right now, we’d be so grateful if you shared our story or sent a kind word our way. Every bit of support reminds us we’re not alone.
We created this baby out of deep love. And every single day, we are holding onto that love—with hope, with fear, and with everything we have. Thank you for being a part of this journey, and for helping us give our baby the best possible start in life.
With all our love and gratitude,
Maria & Denisha Davila
