My mother was hospitalized on September 3, 2025, from a boil that turned into necrotizing fasciitis. She had emergency surgery that left her with a very large wound from the inner part of her thigh that goes up to her side. She was released on home health in October to finish out her healing process. Part of the healing process is being on a wound vac to help her wound heal quickly and to help prevent any further infections.

My parents have health insurance, but their health insurance will not pay in full for the services she needs, including the wound vac. She received a bill today for $1,900 for the wound vac and supplies. We have exhausted every bit of extra money to help with her expenses up until now.

Of course, mom has several other medical bills from all of this, but the main focus is to ensure she stays on the wound vac. Mom is very giving and always has given to others when she can, even if she missed paying a bill herself.
