Help Support My Mom’s Recovery Journey
On August 13th, our lives changed forever. My mom went into surgery to have her kidney removed because of a mass (Unbeknownst to them the doctor nicked her spleen and she began bleeding internally). After she was discharged home, the next day she was very weak and ill, so my dad called an ambulance. On the way, she became unresponsive and as soon as she arrived at the hospital she coded and had to be stabilized before doctors could remove her spleen to save her life. It was the worst night of my life.
She spent nearly a month in the ICU fighting to recover. She was on life support for almost two weeks. It was a long hard journey at the hospital. Once she was strong enough, and medically stable, she was moved to a rehab center where she worked so hard to regain her strength and learn to walk again. She was eating on her own and even walking again with assistance. Everyone was amazed by her incredible journey. Just when things seemed to be improving, her health declined quickly, and she was transferred back to the hospital.
She had developed sepsis and was admitted back to the ICU. Then, another emergency surgery became necessary. She has now endured multiple life-threatening setbacks and has been in the ICU more than once. As I write this, she is still in the ICU, continuing to fight for her life and recovery.
Through it all, my dad has been by her side every step of the way. My dad has not been working during this time so he can be with her.
This fundraiser is simply to help make things a little easier for my parents. The funds will go toward:
• Providing daily meals for my dad while she is in the hospital with my mom, as he spends all day there with her and sometimes all night.
• Ensuring they have meals at home once she is finally discharged, so they can focus on healing instead of worrying about cooking.
• Helping get their home professionally cleaned and prepared for her return, so that’s one less stress on their shoulders.
My parents have been through so much in such a short time. I want to give them comfort and support in the small ways that matter—meals, a clean home, and peace of mind—so they can focus fully on her recovery. She still has a very long road ahead.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean the world to us. If you are unable to give, we ask that you please keep my mom in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to fight.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading her story and for praying for our family during this incredibly difficult time.
