Support Mom's Brave Fight Against Breast Cancer

I am reaching out to you in a time of great need for our family. Our incredible mom, Colleen Heffern-Perusse, has recently been diagnosed with stage I aggressive breast cancer, and we are facing an uphill battle that comes not only with medical challenges but also unexpected job loss. We urgently need your support to help her receive the necessary treatments and navigate through this trying time.

Colleen’s treatment plan spans a full year from November 2023 through November 2024. It begins with port surgery on November 29th. November 30th brings 5 months of chemotherapy infusions and total hair loss, followed by a lumpectomy with reconstruction, moving into 6 weeks of daily radiation, and finishing with weekly chemotherapy medication. The year also includes echocardiograms and hormone-blocking infusions every 3 weeks for a year and ongoing medications for a variety of side effects. The financial burden of these crucial treatments, coupled with the recent loss of her job due to unsafe working conditions, has created an unexpected situation that is both emotionally and financially overwhelming.

Our family recently moved to pursue Mom's career in special education, hoping to create a better future for ourselves. Sadly, the job proved to be an unsafe environment, leaving Mom without employment during this critical time. As a single parent for the past 9 years and with both of her parents now gone, Colleen is facing these challenges with incredible strength but needs a helping hand to get through it all.
