Momo is my 4-year-old best friend, ferret, noodle, sock, mr. sniffer. My child. The most precious thing I own. My ESA.
For his age, he has perfect health and is a strong, happy boy. Unfortunately, this Monday, 01/27, he suffered an accident that resulted in his right canine teeth and his right arm being broken.
It was a shock for us both. I ran to the Exotic Veterinary Hospital of Pasadena, where they did X-rays, gave him pain meds, and confirmed that he has broken his elbow, humerus bone, and dislocated a piece of that arm. Right now, we have been discussing surgery to fix the problem or other possibilities for his recovery.
His canine broke, and though most of the tooth is gone, he will need surgery to remove the rest and prevent an infection.
Tomorrow, we have a consult with his doctor at VCA West LA. They will probably be my choice for the next steps here since the previous visit was for emergency purposes.
The first consult cost me $840. My consult tomorrow was already quoted at $1,100. His dental surgery is around $5,000. Not to mention the arm, which costs roughly $6,000.
I have everything in paper and am happy to share more as I go.
As an exotic animal, the veterinary costs are always high. I do have insurance, but they won’t cover all the costs, and this entire accident happened because I was having a panic attack, for not being able to afford my rent and bills.
I don’t know if you, reading this, know me. But Momo saved my life and he continues to do so on a daily basis. His strength is an inspiration to me. I love him more than anything in the world. Please help me make him walk again. We still have tons of exploring and fun ahead of us.
Any $5 will help. If you can’t help, spread the word. I believe we can do this.
