Hello! My name is Marie, if you know me personally you know that my dog, MoMo has played an integral part of my life for the past 13 years. He may be old in dog years but that doesn't stop him from acting like a puppy. He loves to play, watch tv, give cuddles, and star in my TikTok videos. He has been the light of my life as well as my close friends and family's lives.
On Monday, May 19 MoMo suddenly stopped eating, drinking and couldn't walk. We took him to his primary vet who advised we admit him to the ER immediately. The veterinarians have diagnosed him with having Intestinal Lymphangiectasia which essentially means his body has not been absorbing nutrients, he's been losing protein/calcium for the past few weeks and he was so weak. The doctors honestly didn't think he would make it through the night. They put him on plasma transfusions and steroids for the past 2 days. Thankfully, MoMo is responding well to the transfusions and slowly starting to act like himself again, I'm told he's always asking the vets to hold him for cuddles.
As you can imagine the vet bills have been high. So far we have spent $10,000 out of pocket and anticipate spending more as he will need to be on steroids for the remainder of his life. Before this incident MoMo showed no signs of being sick and he had no underlying health conditions so to say we were unprepared for this is an understatement. The costs have taken a big hit on our savings, we are asking for any type of help with MoMo's vet bills. I would never want to choose between money and MoMo's life, we hope to do everything we can to get a few more good years with him, he has so much left to give to the world. Anything you can give no matter how big or small or even just a prayer for him would help ease the stress, pain and heartache we've experienced the past week. We thank you so much in advance for even taking the time to read this message and wish you all the best. Give your pets all the love for us, our time with them is too short.
