Help Us Cover Life-Saving Care for Momo
Momo, a sweet 8-month old kitten, was found abandoned in a basket at just 3 pounds, freezing, starving, and infected with parasites. When we first found him, we weren’t sure he was going to make it through the night. Although the odds were against him, Momo fought through his terrifying beginning, and for a while, he seemed to be on the mend.
After Momo’s initial recovery, we began noticing concerning new symptoms—rapid, labored breathing, along with focal seizures that we initially thought might be related to PTSD from his traumatic past. In an effort to find answers, we had him tested for a range of conditions, including FIP, a liver shunt, heart issues, and lung diseases. Thankfully, all of these were ruled out, but this still left us without a clear explanation for his symptoms.
Momo’s primary vet recommended we take him to a neurologist for further evaluation. After seeing the neurologist, Momo was started on Pregabalin, which seemed to provide some relief at first. Unfortunately, his seizures soon worsened, escalating into grand mal seizures.
After Momo’s first grand mal seizure, he was prescribed Keppra. For about a week, we saw some improvement. But then, things took a turn when Momo suffered five grand mal seizures in a single day. This prompted an emergency visit to VERG Veterinary, where Momo was hospitalized overnight for monitoring. During this stay, he was prescribed Phenobarbital, in hopes of better managing his seizures.
While Momo's health has been a rollercoaster, he is currently in a safe and loving foster home with two amazing foster moms who care for him around the clock. He’s in good hands, and despite everything he’s been through, he is happy and content in his foster home. Despite this, he still needs critical care to manage his seizures and stay on the path to full recovery.
The cost of his ongoing care is high and we need your help. The medical bills from his treatments, ER visit, and medications have quickly added up, and we are asking for your support to help cover these costs.
We will continue to update you on Momo’s journey as he recovers. Your kindness and support make all the difference, and every donation, no matter the size, helps us get one step closer to Momo’s full recovery.
Cat rescue is 100% volunteer-based, and the only way we can save lives like Momo’s is with the help of compassionate people like you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of Momo's story and his recovery. We are so grateful for your generosity!
