Momentum Dance Toronto (MDT) is thrilled to return to the stage in 2023 with RE:IGNITE.

Emerging from years of uncertainty and lockdowns we present our first live performance since 2019. RE:IGNITE follows our choreographer's experience as we rediscover the passion and joy that comes from performing.

Since being founded in 2009, MDT has provided an inclusive and creative space for non-professional dancers pursuing their passion through weekly dance classes and an annual performance. Each year, the performances tell a story - whether that be nostalgic memories from our pasts (Nostalgia, 2013), a retelling of the beloved classic, Alice in Wonderland (Wonder, 2015), or the escapism that comes from watching your favourite TV show (Tune In, 2019). MDT is funded through our performance ticket sales and the membership fees collected from our participating company members.

In 2020, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we had to cancel our show 5 weeks before opening night. Like many small businesses and arts organizations, the shutdowns were challenging both financially and emotionally. Despite the disappointment of cancelling our show, our incredible members continued teaching classes virtually from our homes and kept the MDT spirit alive and well!

Since our very first show, MDT has entertained over 4,500 audience members, and after a few years of hiatus due to the pandemic, we could not be more excited to present RE:IGNITE, live to audiences in April 2023 at the Al Green Theatre in Toronto. Today, we are asking for some additional financial support in our efforts to ensure we keep MDT and its vision alive for many more years to come. Every little bit goes such a long way and is immensely appreciated.
