Urgent Appeal for Help – A Home and Solar Power for My Family in Gaza
Hello,
My name is Momen Barakat, a 24-year-old lawyer from Gaza. I used to live a good life, pursuing my daily activities with the ambition of serving my community through my legal profession. However, the war has turned my life upside down, bringing unimaginable hardship to me and my family of five, who live in northern Gaza.
For the past year and a half, we have endured the most difficult days of our lives—facing severe shortages of food and water, being forced to flee our home, and losing friends and relatives. Fear was our constant companion throughout this time. As a result of the war, we lost so much—our beautiful home, which took us years of effort and savings to build, was completely destroyed. Our second house was severely damaged. We lost dear friends, our jobs, and the youthful energy we once had.
Even though the war has officially ended, our suffering has not. Life remains a daily struggle. Humanitarian aid is insufficient to meet our basic needs, and we rely on purchasing food and water, which have become extremely expensive. We stand in long lines for hours just to get drinkable water, then carry it over long distances to what remains of our home. We have no electricity to charge our phones or even power a heater to protect us from the cold. To regain a sense of dignity and stability, my family desperately needs a solar power system and a caravan to live in. However, these essentials are beyond our financial reach, as border closures have made resources and supplies even more expensive:
• A single solar panel costs approximately $3,000 and We need two panels. So 6000
• A caravan to shelter us all :6000
I humbly ask for your help in securing these necessities so that my family can live a life of dignity like everyone else. Even a small contribution can make a significant difference for us.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
