Support Molly's Surgery and Recovery Journey

Hello, my name is ShaLyn, and I am excited to introduce you to Molly, an 8 month old goldendoodle. Molly came to live with me in the middle of March 2025. She belonged to a friend of mine, that determined she needed a different environment. When she joined my family of doodles there was a concern regarding a growth in her mouth. I have named the growth Lotso. The previous owner took her to the vet for a round of antibiotics. Then I took her to my vet for a second round of antibiotics, and the growth was not decreasing in size.

Molly had her first surgery to remove Lotso (the growth) on April 1st. The hope was it would come out and Molly would recover and continue being her sweet but rambunctious self. Well, April Fools was April Foolsing, and the vet was unable to remove Lotso because the growth is underneath a layer of bone. The vet team are unsure of what this is. Options were considered of fungal infection, bacterial infection, a cyst, or possible cancer. We have sent off for pathology, and while waiting for results began looking at the next course of action to help Molly.

My vet reached out to a veterinary surgeon and a veterinary dentist. After many conversations between my wonderful vet, the veterinary surgeon office, and veterinary dentist office we have an eviction date for Lotso. We still don’t know what Lotso is but we know he has to come out, by the veterinary dentist. We will drive the 6 hours for the surgery, spend some recovery time and drive home. My hope for Molly is this will be the last step in the eviction of Lotso, but at this time we don’t know.

Why reach out for help, well the procedure is expensive, between $3500 and $5500 most likely, but could be more. On top of the already $1200 previous attempt to evict Latso. I am a single public school educator, and I was not prepared for this level of veterinary expense. Any help you can offer is grateful appreciated and all of it will go to Molly’s medical bills and recovery.
