Help Molly on Her Road to Recovery

Our sister, Molly, has been fighting for her life and is now facing a long and challenging recovery. On July 24, she was hospitalized with pneumonia and pleural effusion (fluid around her lungs). She was expected to be discharged on July 28, but just a day before, everything took a drastic turn for the worse.

On July 27, Molly’s condition worsened suddenly—she spiked a high fever and struggled to breathe. Despite efforts with a BiPAP machine, it wasn't enough. The doctors intubated her and transferred her to the ICU. That night, we were told that her situation was critical and that we should come to say goodbye. It was a terrifying moment, but the doctors remained hopeful that she hadn't suffered any brain damage.

Over the next 24 hours, Molly underwent two emergency surgeries. Thankfully, she made it through. Slowly but surely, signs of improvement began to emerge—she started to open her eyes and move her hands. After 13 days of being intubated, Molly was finally able to breathe on her own again.

But the fight wasn’t over. Scans revealed infections in her abdomen, requiring additional drainage procedures. One drain is still in place to help manage the infection.

Molly was discharged on September 3rd after almost 6 weeks in the hospital. While she’s making progress, she’s still on a long road to recovery. She’s receiving daily IV antibiotics through a PICC line and is working to regain her strength. As a special education teacher, she’s been out of work for an extended period, and we don’t yet know when she’ll be able to return.

The financial strain of her medical bills, ongoing treatments, and living expenses is overwhelming. Any support you can offer would mean the world to Molly and our family as she continues to heal and regain her strength.
