As you may know, Molly was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in August 2024. Her symptoms weren’t out of the ordinary: tiredness, fever, and her mouth was sore. She went to the ER and explained her symptoms to the triage nurse, who looked at her and said…you’re at the ER because your mouth hurts? If you know Molly, that didn’t sit well with her.
When she was taken to the room in the ER, the doctor ordered blood work. After about an hour, they ordered more blood work, and again after about an hour, yep, more blood work and cultures. She felt like a pin cushion. After a few hours in the ER, the hematology doctor on call came in and spoke to her and said we believe you have leukemia, and we’d like to keep you overnight for observation. You can only imagine what was going through Molly’s mind after just losing her mother to cancer 7 months prior.
Observation turned into a month-long stay at the hospital, chemo treatment for 7 days/24 hours a day, several bone marrow biopsies, and more chemo treatments along the way. Her oncologist told her that she has the highest risk AML that there is and that a bone marrow transplant was in her future. On top of all that…oh yeah, you won’t be able to work for 9-12 months. Can you imagine the stress and financial burden that this creates?
Molly is a hardworking, caring, selfless, giving, strong person. She would do anything for anyone at any time and you didn’t even have to ask. She was there for everyone!
Molly will need to go to Indianapolis for her bone marrow transplant, so her expenses will not only be medical but also travel and lodging expenses. As many of you know, Molly is humble and wouldn’t want to take handouts, but tough you know what, we are here to help support, love, and encourage Molly on her long journey ahead.
Please consider donating to help Molly pay for medical, travel, lodging, and everyday expenses that are starting to pile up. Any contribution will be truly appreciated and make a meaningful difference in Molly’s long journey in fighting AML.
