Support Molly to Laine Theatre Arts

Hello!- thank you ever so much for clicking on this link,

My name is Molly and I’m a 17-year-old aspiring musical theatre performer from North Dorset, in the South West of England.

Having studied at The Blandford School, I am currently sitting my final A-Levels in Drama, Performing Arts and Sociology.

Since November last year I have been traveling to London, auditioning for top drama schools specialising in Musical Theatre, and in December I was fortunate enough to be offered a place at Laine Theatre Arts, my dream school, to study Musical Theatre on their 3 year course.

At the age of 3, I started my dance with ballet classes at Footlight Performance Academy and once at The Blandford School I took part in musicals where I found my home onstage beginning my journey into Musical Theatre. Having fallen in love with performing through singing, dancing and acting, I realised my passion for performing in all three disciplines. Taking up vocal lessons, training regularly in other styles of dance whilst studying acting and drama at both GCSE and A-Level has given me the passion, inspiration and drive to get onstage and become what is known as a triple threat.

I adore being on stage and have already had such incredible times taking part in our school productions with ensemble roles in Phantom of the Opera, Into the Woods and Evita and principle roles in Oliver as The Artful Dodger, Eponine in Les Misérable, Elphaba in Wicked and more recently Mimi in Rent. When onstage I love finding a connection between myself and the character, fully immersing myself into the role to communicate a story through my performance; I think it’s one of the most incredible ways to express yourself. I’ve always loved learning new skills to develop my abilities and taking part in workshops with industry professionals is so exciting and inspiring. Even during lockdown I stayed connected via zoom allowing me to attend virtual classes with my performance school whilst also taking workshops with many many professionals including several West End stars driving my passion to new heights. My parents imaginatively converted our conservatory at home into a space for me to practice allowing me to continue to dance and sing for hours day after day (sorry neighbours!!!) ensuring that I kept my training up as well being able to still do what I love.

Laine Theatre Arts receive thousands of applications each and every year from not only the UK but across the world. Selecting around just 80 students, I feel so very humbled to think they have seen something in me, and that they feel I am worthy of a place in such a high standing college. Having dreamt of this moment for as long as I can remember, I have received nothing but love and support from my amazing family to pursue my ambition of being a West End performer and leading lady. However, unfortunately Performing Arts is a very low funded sector and due to Laine being an independent school there is no access to student loans and I have been unable to secure any government funding or financial support through a DADA. We therefore cannot fund this alone, so I’ve since taken to writing to as many companies as possible who offer bursaries and grants - though there is no guarantee that my applications will be successful nor that they’d be able to offer enough to cover all costs.

Annual fees for each of the 3 years are over £18,000 plus accommodation and the long training schedule will limit the hours I will be able to work part-time throughout the course. For this reason, my very supportive family and I are desperately seeking ways of funding my way to drama school in September. In our attempts to raise support, I have set up this page as a platform for donations to help make this long fought dream a reality.

It would mean more than anything if you could donate - whatever amount you can give helps me take one step forward towards taking up my place on this course and for that I am truly genuinely so thankful! Even just sharing this page would mean so so much and be immensely appreciated.

If you would like to follow my journey and progress made, I’ll be regularly updating this page as well as my Instagram which is @mollyanncarterx . Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. The love, luck and support I have received so far is overwhelmingly kind.
