Support Molly Ryan's Wildlife Rescue Mission

Hello! My name is Molly Ryan and I am a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator. This means I have met the State’s legal requirements to rehab and release wild animals that may be in need of help. I have been rehabbing for a long, long time and have literally raised and released thousands of animals including squirrels, chipmunks, mice, opossums, and many other wild animals found in our state!

My particular favorite animal to rehab is the woodchuck (also known as a groundhog or whistle pig). They have such huge personalities that people seldom hear about. They are much more than just nuisance animals that steal veggies from the garden! They are even valuable to science in some unexpected ways like helping guide space programs by allowing scientists to study their hibernation abilities to hopefully apply what they learn to send astronauts to space longer in the future! Unfortunately people
often ruin dens or mothers are killed this time of year and we are flooded with babies that need to be hand raised for months before we even think of release!

Some people don’t understand the idea of raising and releasing wild animals. For me it is not only deeply rewarding but also necessary to help our struggling environment. These animals feel pain and fear and when I can take that away from them I also feel an ethical obligation to do so. Unfortunately, I am at the very, very end of my budget and ability to pay for the minimum of what the animals need at this point. Besides the normal food/medications and supplements needed we also have repairs that need to be done on some of our existing outdoor cages. One of my main large release cages was all but destroyed by the terrible windstorms we had this Spring. If I don’t have the state minimum standard cages for wildlife we aren’t allowed to continue to rehab so this is an important factor as well.

Most of us private rehabbers do all our work with money out of pocket. Unfortunately for many people times have become very tough and it is no different for us. Each animal needs a minimum of $75 to raise it from to be an releasable adult and that doesn’t include any vet care that is often needed. I work full time in another field and every bit of extra money and time we have goes towards maintaining our rescue and the animals in it.

If you are able to donate ANYTHING at all it would be beyond appreciated. In exchange I am happy to have you over to show you what I do, or speak to any groups/clubs you may be involved in and show off some educational animals. I can even do Zoom calls for classrooms that are further away. I’ve been told I do a pretty fun and educational presentation:)

Anyone that knows me or has worked with me knows how dedicated I am to saving these animals and I am hoping and praying that I will be able to continue to do what I do with a little help from all the people that have empathy for the life we share our world with!

If there is any information you would like to help make your decision I am happy to provide it, just ask. Also feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested in helping as well. Every bit of who I am goes into what I do….and the more people aware of this kind of fundraising the better!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance for your kindness.
