My name is Danielle, and I am creating this GoFundMe for my parents after devastating back-to-back storms hit the North Shore of Oʻahu - damaging not just our home, but the place my sisters and I grew up.

Floodwaters rose up to four feet into the first floor of my childhood home, filling it with mud, debris, and loss. Their workshop - which housed homemade furniture, farm tools, and even stored my late grandfather’s tools and equipment - completely flooded and everything was destroyed. Nothing was able to be salvaged. The fish farm tanks were fully submerged, and nearly every part of the property was impacted.

We are incredibly grateful that the structure is still standing, that no one was hurt, and that all of the animals are safe. In the middle of so much devastation, the community has shown up in the most incredible ways - helping clear debris, sort through what’s left, and make countless trips to the dump. That kindness has meant everything to our family.

On top of the physical and financial toll this has taken on my family, my parents had to watch the home they built, where they raised a family, and where they chased their dreams, be reduced to mud, muck, and garbage.

We aren’t sure where to go from here or even how to begin rebuilding what was lost, but we appreciate any help you are willing to give. Whether that is assistance cleaning up the property, financial support, or even just prayers/well wishes/positive vibes.

We have reached out to our homeowners insurance only to have all claims denied because it was "not due to a Hurricane". They don't insure against damage due to tropical storms. We have sustained $10,000s in losses that we will never recover. If you just want to help someone, there are people that are a lot more deserving than us. But if someone in our family touched you in such a way that you want to give to us specifically, your help is appreciated more than we can say. Every dollar will go toward cleanup, rebuilding, and replacing what was lost - appliances, farm equipment, furniture, and repairing the parts of the home that were damaged by water.
