On her journey from Mexico, she was transported to Austin, TX preparing to be with her adopter in Illinois. As Moka was on her way to the loving home and family who had been eagerly waiting to adopt her, tragedy struck. What should have been the start of a beautiful new chapter took a devastating turn just days ago.
During a routine stop so the dogs could stretch and use the restroom, Moka slipped free. In a tragic moment, she ran into the street and was struck by a car. She endured nearly two hours before reaching the nearest animal hospital—yet incredibly, she held on.
Moka has experienced a traumatic brain injury. Still, there is hope. She has begun to show signs of neurological response, and her fight to survive is not over. Rehabilitation is now paramount. Because of her brain injury the recovery can be slow but with rehabilitation this can quickly turn her prognosis. It has become a life saving necessity.
We are asking for your support to help cover Moka’s physical therapy and rehabilitation services to finally make it to her forever home. Every contribution brings her one step closer to that future.
About Dogs Without Borders Foundation:
Two countries. One mission: give every dog a chance.
We are a small nonprofit working in both Central Mexico and Central Texas, united by one deep commitment — to protect and uplift the lives of dogs in need.
In San Miguel de Allende Mexico, we begin our work where it matters most: the streets. We sponsor free spay and neuter campaigns to reduce suffering and overpopulation. We also rescue vulnerable puppies, giving them a second chance through loving foster group home, full medical treatment, and the support they need to heal and thrive. Next while rehabilitating and medically treating the puppies are posted for adoption in the US.
In Austin, Texas, our focus shifts to advocacy and empowerment.
We raise funds to provide supportive care for homeless puppies in Mexico and helping them become adoptable companions. We also organize the transport of rescued dogs from Mexico to find forever homes in the U.S.
Because we believe in compassion on every level, we offer volunteer days for University of Texas students — a chance to give back, connect, and enjoy a “foster a puppy” or "walk a shelter dog" the result providing mental health break with purpose.
✨ Your donation helps us cross borders with kindness — from the streets of Mexico to the shelters of Texas.
Together, we can rewrite the stories of dogs who deserve more.
