Moises’s life has changed in an instant. He’s fighting rare, life-threatening diseases diagnosed too late and has lost his independence. He and his family urgently need help with critical care and living expenses.
In Short:
Moises’s symptoms appeared suddenly and worsened faster than anyone expected.
Doctors urgently searched for answers as his mobility declined, pain intensified, and basic functions became nearly impossible, his weight drastically dropping from 221 lbs to 165 lbs. He sleeps only 30 to 45 minutes a day, rarely reaching an hour, as pain constantly wakes him while awaiting sleep studies. After multiple ER visits that led to extended ICU stays and six critical surgeries, it became clear, though diagnosed alarmingly late, that he has multiple rare and life-threatening diseases, among them neuromuscular diseases that are rapidly and unforgivingly destroying his body. Despite ongoing hospitalizations and critical treatments, Moises is battling a difficult and uncertain future, now fully dependent on others for every aspect of his care. His dogs have been deeply impacted; they fall ill from the stress and confusion of his absence and wait faithfully on the recliner where he sleeps during every hospital stay, hoping he will return soon. Our family is struggling to support him through this ordeal as Moises faces lifelong diagnoses that will demand relentless treatment and care for the rest of his life.
