My name is Marcela and my foster dog Mocha is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. She had tested negative at Miami-Dade Animal Services, but then she tested positive at the vet's office in Hallandale Beach when SHARE-Shepherd Help and Rescue Effort got her out of the shelter. She's been fostered by us since February 3. She's completed her month of Doxycycline, a month of "rest" and today March 31st she got her first shot of Immiticide and Dexamethasone at my vet's, Coconut Grove Animal Clinic. We are due back on April 28 for the remaining two shots.

I have decided to start this fundraiser as a way to aid her rescue SHARE with her treatment. It's expensive and I hope that with everyone's contribution we can help them and thus allow them to rescue more dogs. Mocha is safe with us until the perfect fit forever family comes up, DM in interested.

I will post updates with the invoices as we go through the treatment, I will also add her food and some goodies I'll get her as she should not exercise much and stay as calm and relaxed as possible. She is great for this as her temperament is so mellow, but she is still a Shepherd and needs to keep her mind busy.

Mocha is 6 years old, she was adopted from Miami-Dade Animal Services back in 2020 and surrendered last December 2024 after 5 years with that family due to them moving abroad. She is gorgeous! mellow, friendly with everyone, very laid back and affectionate. She will be the ideal companion to anyone who is looking for a dog with great manners, sweet, social and does not care much about training and doing the things German Shepherds usually do. We got her DNA tested thanks to a friend's donation, she is 100% GSD, there was no doubt about that but we were curious of her origin, I will try and trace that back. Hopefully we'll get some more info on her shortly.

In the meantime she is enjoying quiet time, good food and treats, my dog Gabby's company and lots of love from my family and friends.
