M&M is a sweet kitty who is well loved! He LOVES to snuggle, chase toys, go on vacations, and give kisses!!

M&M is currently in the vet hospital for urinary obstruction and resulting kidney damage. Over the weekend, he suddenly became very aggressive—screaming, hissing, and howling in pain, and swatting at everything while limping. Thinking maybe he fell or was constipated, I isolated and monitored him. He woke Sunday morning very lethargic, unable to walk without crying, so we hurried over to our local Vet ER. They advised his bladder was rock hard and very engorged. He had developed a mucus plug in his urethra, which made it difficult for vets to drain his bladder via catheter. His vet advised his labs are all over the board, and we won’t know the extent of damage to his kidneys until his labs stabilize, usually within 24-48 hours. He will need to be on a special diet for the rest of his life and may require maintenance medication.

Fast Fact; In male cats, the urethra is longer and narrower than in females, which makes obstructions, UTIs and bladder infections very common; it’s no fault of their own, it’s their unfortunate anatomy. There is a surgery, Perineal Urethrostomy (PU), that can be done to help correct this and prevent future blockages!

Currently, if nothing else goes wrong and his kidneys recover 100%, the bill is $4,704.15 also not including the PU surgery. The PU surgery is another $2K-$4K expense... We are trying to raise enough to cover the existing bill, the PU surgery to prevent future blockages, and any additional cost associated to help M&M recover! ♥️

M&M was found on the sidewalk cold and alone at barely 2 weeks old. I bottle-fed him every 2-3 hours for 4 weeks (while 8 months pregnant) and when Carter was born, he and M&M formed an unbreakable bond! Carter and M&M are just 5weeks apart in age. He isn’t just a pet, he’s a big part of our family!!
