Join us in making a difference! Since 2023, the Mobile Migrant Health Team has provided essential medical care to immigrant patients via street medicine and a biweekly free clinic, Clínica Nuevas Raíces, hosted at the Pilsen Food Pantry.

We have grown so much as an organization, developed dozens of volunteer leaders, and expanded our services. At Clínica Nuevas Raíces, our patients can have their blood drawn at clinic, receive pap smears, get over-the-counter and prescription medications for free, and take home food. Our dedicated volunteers also coordinate follow-up care, connections to primary care physicians at local federally qualified health centers, and take patients to the emergency room when necessary. Through this difficult time for immigrant patients, we remain a trusted source of medical care and an entry point to the medical system for many.

In addition to holding our regularly-scheduled clinic, we have also delivered groceries to patients in need through our food insecurity program, assisted with community vaccine events, provided at-home medical kits (glucose monitors, blood pressure cuffs, etc.) at events, and hosted gatherings for our families of children with disabilities.

Since we have hired part-time clinic administrators and a community health worker from our patients' community, our annual budget has increased to $100,000 to cover wages, medical supplies, OTC and prescription medications, subsidized laboratory costs, and transportation cards for patients. We have been fortunate to receive grants from local and national funders, however donations remain our most flexible source of revenue.

We recently earned our own 501c3 status via the moniker Mariposa Medical Humanitarian Team and will no longer incubate financially within the Figueroa Wu Family Foundation. However, we continue to work closely with Dr. Figueroa and Dr. Wu who regularly serve as volunteer attending physicians at our clinic and provide invaluable advice and support for our new nonprofit.
