One of Jeune et Jolie's long-standing employees, Miyako Mason, is struggling with an ongoing health crisis that requires serious medical intervention.
Miyako comes to us from Kobe, Japan. She fell in love with her now-husband Charles, after she met him in the city of Osaka while he was stationed abroad with the United States Marines. She picked up her life and moved far away from her family to be with Charles and her dog Lulu here in California. If you know Miyako, this shouldn’t surprise you, as she is incredibly passionate and follows her heart.
In the last past two years, Miyako has played an important role in the success of our restaurant. She has impacted many guests in the time she has spent with us through genuine care, warm hospitality, and an altruistic spirit. She holds tremendous space in our hearts.
Earlier this year, Miyako learned that the pregnancy she was so excited about had unfortunately turned into a molar pregnancy, which brought on extreme illness. Through her devastation, she was able to move forward with the proper procedures she needed and she continued
to live life with a smile, just happy to be feeling better. But after her initial procedure, she’d learn that she has a long and hard road ahead of her. She will have to undergo another unexpected surgery and will start chemotherapy immediately after the procedure, removing her ability to return to work to support her family. Leading up to this news, she was already battling a pre-existing epilepsy disorder, forcing her in and out of the emergency room. After many visits to the ER, many appointments, and many tests, Miyako and her family are just hoping to find some resolution. We started this GoFundMe to support Miyako during this incredibly challenging time. The goal is to assist in raising funds for Miyako and her family to help alleviate financial stress, allowing her to find some element of peace during her recovery. Miyako has been incredibly brave throughout this entire process, and we are so appreciative to be able to know such a strong and optimistic person, and will continue to act as a support system for her.
Most of her family may be far away, but her community is right here.
Thank you so much for your support.
