Updated 4/21:
On March 25, Mitch and his girlfriend Erin returned home from a trip to Spain and Portugal in celebration of their 10 year anniversary. That night, Mitch acquired a splinter on his way into the hot tub which had grown fetid in their absence. Just a few moments in the tub and an overnight splinter was enough to infect his bloodstream and set off a bunch of other reactions.
He was hospitalized in Albuquerque on March 28 for 16 days and then three days later was readmitted. It’s been a fight for his life against Streptococcus B & G. He’s currently in the hospital on day 6, awaiting possible discharge later this week. So far, he’s five surgeries to wash out infections in his shoulder, knee (twice), thigh and toe, followed by spinal surgery yesterday. The remainder of the infection will be fought over the next several weeks via IV antibiotics. He’ll have home healthcare, PT and other forms of healing therapy. We are not sure how long the recovery will take, but will keep you updated! Thank you so much for your interest and care. Your support will help offset the loss of income, medical care not covered by insurance, and allow him a gentle transition back into his creative and client based work. Mitch is loved by many and needs your help!
