Our friend’s family is facing something no one could have prepared for.
A little over a week ago, Mitch went to the hospital after experiencing tingling in his arms and legs. By 5 PM that same day, he could no longer walk and was experiencing excruciating pain in the bottoms of his feet. After many days of tests, he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare neurological disorder that attacks the body’s nerves and can rapidly cause paralysis and loss of motor function.
He has now been hospitalized for over a week and is expected to remain there for about another week. While he still has some motor ability in his arms, his hands are numb, tight, and difficult to use. Right now, he cannot walk, and once he is discharged from the hospital, he will face a long road of rehabilitation and therapy to relearn how to walk and regain his strength and independence.
If you know Mitch, you know he is always the first person willing to help others. Whether he’s renovating your home or for families in our community, or spending countless hours coaching girls high school level travel softball, he has poured so much of himself into the people around him. His softball family, friends, and community know the kind of hardworking, caring person he is.
His wife, Melissa, is part of the amazing Moe’s family and has always shown up for others with kindness and support. Together, they are raising their family and caring for their pets while now facing unimaginable uncertainty and challenges at home.
With Mitch unable to work for the foreseeable future, the loss of income combined with mounting medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and everyday household expenses is creating an overwhelming burden for their family during an already heartbreaking time.
We are asking for any support you can give — whether that’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping them in your thoughts and prayers. Every contribution will help ease the financial stress so they can focus fully on his recovery and on caring for their family during the difficult months ahead.
Donations can also be made to Melissa via Venmo (MelissaKubacki-23) or CashApp (MelissaKubacki23).
Thank you for supporting this incredible family during one of the hardest moments of their lives.
