Hello, my name is Mitchell. I recently suffered severe chemical burns to my legs that required emergency hospitalization, multiple surgeries, and skin grafts. I spent weeks in the hospital, and I’m now facing a long and painful recovery that includes physical therapy, limited mobility, and time away from the work and life I depend on.
This experience has been physically and emotionally overwhelming, but the financial impact has added an entirely new layer of stress. I’m self-employed and pay a high monthly premium for health insurance, believing I was protected if something happened. Unfortunately, when I needed it most, my coverage fell catastrophically short. My United policy provided only a $500-per-day hospital benefit, which doesn’t nearly begin to cover the cost of extended hospitalization, surgeries, and ongoing care.
Asking for help is not easy for me. I’ve always worked hard to support myself, and needing to reach out like this is incredibly humbling. Only after receiving an overwhelming amount of comments from people who follow me online encouraging me to accept support that I decided to share this. But right now, any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, would mean more than I can put into words. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for standing with me as I focus on healing and recovery.
