My name is Mitchell, and I want to share my journey with you. In March of 2015, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma of the liver. Since then, my life has been a whirlwind of surgeries, treatments, and hope. I underwent exploratory surgery, had a port placed in my chest, and began chemotherapy. I was also enrolled in a clinical trial for TACE, where microscopic beads soaked in chemotherapy were placed around my tumor.
In April of 2023, I faced another major surgery to remove the tumor and the bead mass. The recovery was long and difficult, taking six months before I could regain some normalcy. For nearly ten years, I was stable, going through regular CT and MRI scans, always hoping for good news. Unfortunately, in recent months, my cancer has started to grow again. My doctors have recommended that I begin chemotherapy again, starting soon. This treatment will likely leave me too weak to continue my part-time job, making it hard to keep up with my living expenses, medical bills, and house bills.
Most people with this type of cancer don’t make it past three years, so I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have made it this far. I am deeply grateful for the chance to share my story and for any support you can offer to help my family and me during this challenging time. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us. Thank you so very much!
