Support Mitch Mackey's Fight Against Kidney Disease

Hi, I’m Jonathan and I’m organizing this GoFundMe to help my good friend Mitch Mackey. Mitch is 59 and an electrical contractor who lives in New Orleans East with his wonderful wife Cara—they’ve been married 40 years. They belong to the Lake Forest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They have a great family: six kids and seven grandchildren that he loves very much. Mitch has been a very hardworking independent electrical contractor for the past 33 years. He has a great sense of humor and ready smile, and he is very good at solving electrical problems. But he’s got a serious medical problem he can’t solve himself. He needs your help. For over twenty years he’s been battling nephrotic kidney syndrome, a serious kidney disorder that causes fatigue, swelling, dehydration, and fainting. He’s passed out at work and been hospitalized numerous times and in 2019 he almost died. Right now his kidney function is dangerously low—11%. He will need dialysis soon while he waits for a transplant. His doctors tell him once he’s on dialysis he won’t be able to work at all—because he will need to rest between sessions. Already his work hours are limited because of his pain and swelling and general fatigue—and he’s worried about losing his home. He’s on a waiting list for a transplant and once he gets one there will be many months he will also need financial help. So if you can make any contribution at all I know Mitch and his wife and family will appreciate it.
Also, Mitch does not have a kidney donor at this time. So if you want to be a volunteer donor please reach out to me or to Mitch. And thank you so much for reading this and helping Mitch get back to full health. We can do this together.
