Hi, I’m Misty — a single mom of three navigating life with PTSD, anxiety and panic attacks, ADHD, PMDD, and dyslexia.
I’ve spent years in therapy and worked hard to build healthy coping tools — work I’m deeply proud of. But there are still moments when panic attacks, PTSD episodes, dissociation, and intense anxiety overwhelm my nervous system and make it difficult to stay grounded and fully present.
Because of this, I meet the clinical criteria for a psychiatric service dog, and this support has been recommended as part of my ongoing care.
I’m raising funds to bring home **Rue**, my professionally trained psychiatric service dog. We are officially matched, her health screenings and X-rays are clear, and she has begun specialized training designed specifically for me and my life.
Rue will be trained to:
• Alert me when my anxiety or cortisol levels are rising
• Interrupt panic attacks, dissociation, and other distress behaviors
• Provide deep pressure therapy and grounding
• Create space around me in crowded or overstimulating environments
• Help me remain more regulated and present with my children
Rue will not simply be a pet. She will be a trained medical support partner and a deeply loved part of our family.
This journey has already taken an unexpected turn. I was originally matched and trained with Benji, but shortly afterward, he was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and had to retire from service work. Returning home without him and beginning again was heartbreaking.
Then came Rue.
She is sweet, spunky, curious, and currently completing two to four months of specialized task training. I’m also hoping to travel to California to meet her before she comes home so we can begin building our bond.
I chose the name **Rue** because it represents healing and grounding — exactly what I hope we will bring to one another.
This community has already helped me raise more than **$14,000**, and I’m continuing to raise funds for the remaining cost of Rue’s training, including her scent-based alert work, as well as the travel required to train alongside her and bring her home.
My hope is that Rue will help create a more supported, ease-filled life for me and my children — one where I can move through the world with more calm, confidence, and presence.
Thank you for donating, sharing, or simply cheering us on. Your support means more than I can express.
Here’s to healing, grounding, Rue, and a whole lot of confetti. ✨
