Support Misty Helmick During Unthinkable Loss and Struggle
Our dear friend, Misty Helmick, is facing an overwhelming and heartbreaking series of challenges, and she needs our support now more than ever.
Recently, Misty tragically lost her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Helmick, after he suffered two cardiac arrests. Despite a week-long battle in the ICU, Bob passed away, leaving Misty to navigate the unimaginable grief of losing her husband of 20 years. In addition to her personal loss, Misty is also caring for their 10-year-old son, Mason, through this incredibly difficult time.
Just five days before Bob’s passing, Misty also lost her mother on Christmas Eve morning after a long and painful struggle with dementia and Alzheimer’s. For 14 years, Misty and Bob were the primary caregivers for her mother, providing unwavering emotional and financial support during her illness. This double loss—losing both her husband and mother in such a short span—has left Misty physically and emotionally drained.
To add to these overwhelming burdens, Misty and Mason share their home with several rescue dogs, which come with additional financial responsibilities. In the wake of Bob’s passing, Misty is also facing the challenge of replacing their family car, which was solely in Bob’s name. This has created yet another significant financial strain at an already difficult time.
Additionally, just before Bob’s passing, Misty and Bob had to use their savings to address major plumbing issues in their home, adding to the weight of their current struggles. Unfortunately, Bob did not have life insurance, and while Misty’s mother had a small burial policy, it will only cover the cost of her mother’s burial. With mounting medical bills and no financial safety net, Misty is now facing a dire situation, both emotionally and financially.
We’re asking for your help to lighten Misty’s load during this incredibly challenging time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward easing some of the financial burdens she’s facing, allowing her to focus on caring for Mason, grieving, and taking care of herself.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and support. It means the world to Misty and her family.
