Support Misty Barry with her need for life changing surgery

Hi, my name is Lauren Talley, and I’m fundraising on behalf of my sister, Misty Barry, who is bravely fighting a painful and often misunderstood condition called lipedema.

Lipedema causes abnormal and painful fat buildup, especially in the arms and legs. For years, Misty has endured chronic pain, limited mobility, and emotional hardship all while tirelessly fighting with insurance to get the surgery that could relieve her suffering. Despite every effort, her insurance has continually denied coverage for the procedure.

Now, she is facing the need to pay $30,000 out of pocket for lipedema reduction surgery on her arms and legs. This surgery isn’t cosmetic. It’s medically necessary and would give Misty the chance to live without pain and reclaim her quality of life.

Misty is the kind of person who always puts others before herself. She is an Air Force veteran, a mother, and a fierce advocate for children in need. She has opened her home and heart to foster children and even founded Grace’s Closet — a donation-based closet she ran from her home to provide clothes and essentials for children in foster care. Through her kindness and dedication, she’s helped countless children feel seen, cared for, and supported.

She was even recognized in an article by The Bluebird Patch as an “unsung hero” in her community. She is someone who committed her “life, heart, and home” to serve others without expecting anything in return.
