Support Missy's Fight Against Hereditary Liver Disease
Donation protected
Hi, my name is April Rosa and I am a long time friend of Missy Parker. I, along with Missy's family and friends, have started this GoFundMe so that Missy may be able to pay her medical expenses along with her household expenses while she is fighting this life-threatening Liver Disease.
On May 3rd, 2024, Missy was rushed to our local hospital from work where she was diagnosed with hereditary stage 4 Cirrhosis of the liver and Varices. She was then transported to a Houston hospital where she underwent a life-saving procedure to help alleviate the high pressure in her portal veins and varices causing them to rupture. Less than 6 weeks later, she was back at the hospital where she received multiple units of blood and underwent another procedure to help open up the new veins that were swelling and had burst. It was then that she was added to the liver transplant list and sent home. She was released after spending 10 days in the hospital. After being released, Missy went back into the hospital 3 days later where she was having more internal bleeding and needed more units of blood.
Missy is still currently in a hospital in Houston in which she might have to undergo a TIPS procedure which is essentially a stint in her liver to bypass the portal vein and alleviate the pressure being put on her veins. This procedure can save her life but expedites the weakening of her liver and can add strain to her heart and other internal organs. Speeding up her need for a liver transplant.
During all of this, Missy has not been able to work and is needing help to pay her medical bills along with her household bills while she is in the fight of her life.
As you can imagine, spending almost 30 days in the hospital, multiple blood transfusions, under going 3 procedures and getting a liver transplant is expensive. If you can find it in your heart to help her in her time of need, Missy, her family, and I would be forever grateful.
