About Fresh designs programs to health outcomes by bringing fresh and healthy food to the communities that need it the most. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, they have launched a door-to-door grocery delivery program to ensure high-risk, homebound households are getting the food they need. What’s more, they’re one of the five organizations the City of Boston’s Resiliency fund has chosen to partner with to provide essential services to Boston residents whose health and well-being are most immediately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) provides free, confidential support and services to survivors of sexual violence ages 12 and up and their families and friends. We work with survivors of all genders, and their goal is to empower survivors to heal and seek justice in ways that are meaningful to them. We meet the needs of survivors in crisis and long after, and we also assist them as they navigate the health-care, criminal legal, social service, and school systems. We are supporting this amazing organization because we understand that as folks are mandated to stay at home increases of violence in the homes has increased. This organization is supporting folks as they are required quarantine at home.
The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) partners with 500+ hunger-relief agencies, including food pantries, community meal programs and other food assistance providers throughout the nine counties and 190 towns and cities across Eastern Massachusetts. The coronavirus poses an even greater threat to food insecure populations such as children and seniors. GBFB partner with The Child Nutrition Outreach Program (CNOP), that source an ONLINE MAP of schools and community partners across the Commonwealth making meals available to students while schools are closed due to COVID-19. We are choosing GBFB as a community partner to support to help ensure our neighbors in need can make it through these challenging times.
Resist is a foundation that supports people's movements for justice and liberation. They redistribute resources back to frontline communities at the forefront of change while amplifying their stories of building a better world. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Resist will be reviewing $1,000 Rapid Response grants to better meet the needs of frontline groups and organizations. We are choosing Resist as a community partner to support the rapid and critical economic backing necessary for organizers and culture workers to respond in these most pressing times.
Violence in Boston is the brainchild of Roxbury resident, activist, and organizer Monica Cannon-Grant. The mission of Violence in Boston is to improve the quality of life & life outcomes of individuals from disenfranchised communities by reducing the prevalence of violence and the impact of associated trauma. When COVID-19 hit Boston and schools were closed, Monica sprung into action. She teamed up with Food for the Soul owner Donnell Singleton and have bene feeding hundreds of children, families, and elderly folks every weekday since the virus began to spread. With the stay-at-home order, they are now delivering meals around the city. They rely entirely on charitable donations to get the nourishment items they need to the community.
