Hi, I’m Miss Shi Lo — a passionate educator, healer, and lifelong advocate for children.

In 2023, my journey as a teacher came to a sudden halt when the school I loved unexpectedly shut down. I was devastated. Not long after, I faced a life-altering back injury — compounding years of recovery from a complex knee issue. These physical and emotional setbacks left me feeling like the universe was telling me to walk away from teaching.

While bedridden, I started working for a social media agency. This agency was international and has closed off its work with US commerce due to our president. I’m currently looking for financial assistance inbetween jobs. And, as our nation faces a growing educational crisis — my spark for teaching has returned with a fire I haven’t felt in years.

After deep inner work and spiritual healing, I found a school in Brooklyn, NY, that sees me — not in spite of my story, but because of it. They’re committed to anti-racism and equity work at a time when many schools are backing away. I cried during my interview because it felt like coming home to my purpose. They will also be accommodating my injury rehabilitation with grace and compassion.

The school is offering to pay for my Master’s degree, which will help me fulfill a dream of founding a school with all the bells and whistles for a progressive space.

But right now, I need help getting to the frontlines.

I’m raising funds for:

• Educator recertification & licensing exams

• A professional teaching wardrobe

• Classroom supplies

• Relocation assistance to Brooklyn, NY

Our children are in crisis. Some are taking their own lives as early as age ten. They need teachers who love, honor, and see them — not just for who they are, but who they’re becoming.

It’s a call to serve. God has always said, go where his people are.
